GU Roctane Energy Gel is created for demanding training and competitions. It differs from the original GU Energy Gel by having in its composition more sodium, an electrolyte that helps with hydration and protects against cramps, and more branched chain amino acids (leucine, valine, and isoleucine) that prevent muscle and mental fatigue, and reduce muscle catabolism better, compared to the original GU Energy Gel.

It contains the amino acid taurine which helps contract the heart and improves cardiac performance and strength in long-term training, while the amino acid beta-alanine helps promote the creation of the intramuscular molecule carnosine, which in turn reduces the formation of lactic acid, thus preventing pain and discomfort in joints and muscles.

The 100 calories provided by each GU Roctane Energy Gel contain carbohydrates (maltodextrin and fructose) that use non-competitive pathways to maximize carbohydrate absorption and utilization while minimizing gastrointestinal (stomach) upset.
