The discs, although they seem like a simple product, are actually quite a bit more complex. Their production process, in order to get a very good result, is difficult and complex, while the quality varies significantly from disc to disc. We will try to analyze the process and what the consumer should pay attention to before making the purchase.

On good discs the weight can vary by +/- 5%. In case the disc quality is above, and the factory process quality is not good.

The finishing process is as follows. At first, after it comes out of the mold, the disk is ground and smoothed (not as meticulously as in simple enamel). If the factory is good, then he puts it in a rubber mold, and the layer is enough to give protection. In cheaper products, the rubberizing process is done by simply dipping the disc into hot rubber. But this does not give the necessary rubber thickness and therefore the necessary protection. Of course this will lead to a lower price but also a lower product. One way to check this is to "stick" your nail in so you can feel one go in or feel like it's touching the iron directly. Finally, the rubber compound plays an important role. In the very cheap products the primary rubber mixture is below 30% resulting in less protection, but also a bad smell. AMILA discs have a 70% virgin rubber compound.
